BWNR Best of 2018

BWNR is happy to announce our first annual “Best of…” to recognize the great Indie music from around the world. Give all these artists a listen and support.

Album of the Year

Alice Sweet Alice – “Viola Organista-The Macabre Carnival

Every one of the songs on this album are masterpieces and I can’t get enough of listening to them! I love “The Macabre Carnival” so much that I can’t even pick a favorite song! Lee Miller-BWNR

Album-Honorable Mention

Hats Off Gentlemen Its Adequate – “Broken But Still Standing”

I eluded to a comparison of Pink Floyd, but I will say that, without a shadow of doubt, Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate is in a league of their own! My hat is off to all of you in the band for creating this masterpiece! Lee Miller-BWNR

Randy Harris – “Never Apart”

This album is a total fusion of Rock and Jazz with bits and pieces of other genres thrown in. Randy Hrris has made his sound his own and I haven’t heard anything else like it. Cliff Broyhill-BWNR

Steven Courtney Band – “Keep Rollin’ and Tumblin’

With their blending of Roots, Blues, Rock & a little bit of country sound thrown in, Steven Courtney and his band with their raw, straight-ahead juke joint sound reminiscent of Mellencamp and even a little Springsteen thrown in have created a masterful journey of sound. Cliff Broyhill-BWNR

SheWolF – “The Other Side”

I have heard a lot of bands that are either fronted by a female lead singer or consist of all female members, but it’s been quite awhile since I’ve heard one with talent and musicianship of this caliber. Lee Miller-BWNR

EP of The Year

The Crushing Violets – “Ghost Fields”

There’s a lot to be said about bands that have diversity in their music. They are artists that feed off of one another’s creativity, and bring out the best in each other. That can be said of The Crushing Violets. You can hear it in every note of their album, “Ghost Fields”. Lee Miller-BWNR

EP-Honorable Mention

Jackknife Stiletto – Chronicles of Jane Vol 1″

There are times when I can hear the Joan Jett influence, but these girls are definitely showing how talented they are when it comes to creating their own music and representing the angst that drives them to be one of the best independent Rock bands in the land! Lee Miller-BWNR

Sabrina Fallah – “Kiss Is A Killer”

If this EP is any indication of where Sabrina’s career is headed, then no one should be surprised and happy to say “I knew her when…” With the backing of several well known producers, “Kiss Is A Killer” is only the beginning for this young lady from Canada. Cliff Broyhill-BWNR

RAYNE – “Complex By Design”

With “Complex by Design, RAYNE has remained true to their roots in a music world that seems to thrive on “generic” lyrics & melodies. This is truly a masterpiece by this very accomplished band. Cliff Broyhill-BWNR
