Album Review: the Koniac Net – “They Finally Herd Us”

Here at Bandwagon Network Radio, when you mention the name The Koniac Net, you automatically think of the facts that they were the first international band played on BWNR, their song, “Rose Coloured Glasses”, was the fourth song ever aired on BWNR, and “Chasing After You” was BWNR’s 2015 Rock Song Of The Year. Those things are huge when it comes to such an iconic band that has truly forged their way into a class of music all their own. A lot can be said about this band and the music that they forge.

The six member band, hailing from Bombay, India, consists of founder, vocalist, guitarist, and musical genius extraordinaire David Abraham, bassist Adil Kurwa, producer, guitarist and vocalist Jason D’Souza, guitarist and vocalist Aaron D’Mello, drummer Karun Kannampilly and the latest addition, keyboardist and vocalist Mallika Barot, and their new album, “They Finally Herd Us” is an indie trip of epic proportions, leaving no stone unturned. Featuring 11 eclectic songs that are masterpieces unto themselves. And let’s get to the music, shall we?

“As We Became Birds” kicks off the album straight up and in your face, before sojourning into the coolest groove. The verses hypnotically pull you in and even though it’s a short song, it sets the impactful tone for the rest of the album. “Crawling” is next up and it is flat out awesome in every way! Vocally, as well as instrumentally, this song has it all! It reminds me of one of my favorite bands in a way, Incubus, but even they have yet to put out a song that is this amazing in every way! It segues into third song, “Alison” and I’ve got to say that with this album, The Koniac Net have another hit upon their hands! The solo section of “Alison” is just absolutely brilliant! To be honest, there is nothing that I don’t love about this album!

There is no filler on this album. Each and every song is just freaking stellar! That truly shows with the title track, “They Finally Herd Us”. This band is just amazing on all fronts! And the songs are so powerfully driven! Ranging from Rock to Alternative Rock, with bits of Punk Rock thrown in as well as other musical genres, it’s apparent that The Koniac Net, and especially the musical genius of David Abraham, is a band that knows how to deliver a brand of music that although may have different influences, they are in a category all their own! And the pinnacle of their greatness shows on songs like “Dulcinea”, “All Hail Backslider!”, and album closer, “In Vein”.

I absolutely loved this album, “They Finally Herd Us”, from start to finish! It’s music like this and bands like The Koniac Net that makes me proud to be a part of Bandwagon Network Radio and have the opportunity to put pen to paper, fingers to keys, and review what I feel to be the best of the best, the cream of the crop, and the top of the mountain when it comes to the forefront of Independent Artists and bands! Job well done to The Koniac Net! What you’ve created is AMAZING!!!!!
