I asked Google to tell me the answer to the question, “When was the ISRC created?”, & this is what AI told me:

The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) was created in 1986 by the recording industry in collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO):
Creation: The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the ISO introduced the term in 1986.
Approval: The ISO officially approved the ISRC standard in 2001.
Standardization: The ISO standardized the ISRC as ISO 3901:2019.
ISRCs are unique identifiers for sound recordings and music videos. They are used to: Identify and track music, Facilitate accurate royalty payments, and Ensure that every song has a unique identifier.
ISRCs are different from:
International Standard Musical Work Codes (ISWCs), which identify works for songwriter and publisher royalties
Universal Product Codes (UPCs), which are barcodes for point of sale
