2024 BWNR “Year In Review”

The Basic “Stuff”

When January 2024 arrived, we had big hopes for the upcoming year based on 2023 numbers. Almost 500,000 listeners including the Syndicated Shows we aired. Of that number, 455,197 (total: $1,274.55) were paid to artists through Soundexchange as Performance Royalty payments. This is why we have a yearly license fee of $1000.00 to legally broadcast in the US. After it’s paid out, we send monthly payments.

I believed that we would have no problem reaching 600,000 & pay out over half a million performances payouts. To make it clear, each spin of each song receives $0.0028 per listener. Not a lot, but where else can you get exposure and gas money at the same time? I do not set the amount I’m required to pay you.

Unfortunately, between internet outages as my area started to improve Missouri’s infrastructure & a family loss in May, things didn’t turn out the way we hoped. But we still paid out royalties on 432,000 “spins” for a total of just over $1200.00.

Thanks to all of you dedicated listeners the past year as well as the support to us after the loss of our biggest supporter both financially & as a cheerleader for me when I talked about giving it up. She was more than that: Wife, Mom, Grandma & Great-grandma & most of all, my best friend for almost 50 years.

BWNR Monthly #1s

BandWagon releases Weekly Charts, but it’s the monthly charts that we love to do. Because of the way we calculate our charts, a song can be at the top monthly and not get a weekly #1. The exception in 2024 was August when the Destinee Law song “Good Ole’ Country Music”, reached the top of the chart every week. This was one week from tying the Sister Lucille Band song “Alive” which was #1 for five straight weeks in 2019. The High Road song “History” was the only back-to-back #1.

BWNR Monthly Fan Favorites

There was no doubt as to who was the Fan Favorite Artist was last year as all 3 songs from The Miskimon Brothers owned it all year. Including “Space Lady In A Pickup Truck”, which had a 4 month run between July and October.
